I believe in theatre. I believe when we engage with stories in a room with other people we don't always know, something different happens. I can't really explain it, but the prescence of other bodies around us, the fact that what we watch is created before us and we see it as it happens, every night a subtly different thing; this engages me on a different level to film and tv. Each has their place, but theatre for me allows a special intimacy and depth of relationship to another's story.
Construction of the Human Heart is a story at it's most powerful. Lean, strong, simple and truthful, it plays with what it is to make a play: with language, characters, the actors themselves playing to you, the audience. It's an amazingly insightful work, and I can't wait to bring these words to life on a stage.
